Customizing Your Garage Doors

Having a new garage door can take some getting used to. That's why companies allow you the option of customizing your doors. This means you can have them be as close to your last doors as possible without crossing over to the problems you used to have.

You can allow yourself time to think about this process because it takes a lot to find a door that is going to be perfect that fits into your garage. Do you have a customized garage or is it more standard? Depending on these things, you will be able to take more or less time deciding with your provider what you need.

There will be sensors that help you to open the garage back up if your pet or child is trying to get through the opening. There will be no safety risks if you choose a good garage door provider and installer. Also you will have garage openers and garage codes that allow you to open and close the door with your own security system built in. This means that no intruders can open the gate without the code or without a button opener.

You can customize your garage door by changing the shape or the size of it to your liking so it fits with the frame of your original one. There are also custom garage doors available to install. These companies will also install them for you so you won't have to worry about what happens if you don't know how to install your own door.

No matter what color you choose or material you want for your garage door you will get it. Even if you have a dual door situation where only one of them is broken, they can come and make you one that looks just like the other one.

If the company can't make you a new door they will do their best to give you a discounted rate on both doors so you can be happy and have your garage working in top condition. If you are trying to get yourself back on track and cut stressful annoyances out of your life then it is important to try and get small problems like broken garage doors fixed. Once you have your house in order it is a whole new ballgame fixing other problems you have in your life. You will feel refreshed in knowing that you can come in and out of your garage as you please. It will be one less big problem to worry about.

Let it Go...Meditation for Cutting Energy Cords

Do you often find yourself feeling drained or lacking in energy? Is there someone that you just can't seem to get over or stop thinking about no matter how much you try to let them go? Or how about those folks at work who just seem to drain the life out of you?

Did you know that you have invisible cords of energy going from you to other people and from them to you? Unless you use meditation to sever them, you have energy cords attached to you that you do not need. You cannot get rid of something if you are not even aware that it exists.

The cords can be from a number of different sources - from all kinds of past relationships; family, lovers, friends, co-workers.

Often these cords keep us 'attached' to unhealthy emotions and energy from our past, to people we thought we had let go, or they follow us home from the daily grind. Until we consciously let them go, we are unable to free ourselves and move forward to our full potential.

If you would like to release these energy cords, then practicing the following meditation will help you. You can either read it and get an idea how it works and then do it on your own, or you can tape record the following and play it back to walk yourself through the meditation. You can try doing this exercise as you lie in bed and drift off to sleep at night.

The most important thing to remember when starting a meditation is to be comfortable. Loosen tight clothes, ensure that you are sitting or lying back comfortably and that there are no outside influences to interrupt you.

Breathe very deeply. After a few breaths, imagine that you are breathing out any negativity, breathe out anything that is old and does not serve you any more. As you breathe in, imagine that you are breathing in fresh, new and clean enlightening energy, into your body.

Then work on feeling each part of your body, from your toes to your head. Imagine each part of your body working as it is meant to and being healthy and sound. Become very aware of your body and yourself, relaxing......

Now imagine all the cords of energy going from you to others and back again. Surround yourself with the universal white light, know that you are protected. Now, it is time for you to cut the cords that you no longer need. When cutting the cords, you can imagine cutting them with scissors or a knife. Alternatively, you can ask for help from the Archangel Michael. Imagine him cutting the cords with his mighty sword. Imagine all those, unnecessary cords surrounding your body, your legs, your back, your arms, being severed. If you ask for help, be sure to give him thanks for the assistance you receive.

While cutting the cords, cut them with love. Anger will not help you here. Realize that each and every one of us is just a soul on this earth, here to live and learn and do the best we can. The people that we need to let go of are here for their own reasons, and we are here for ours. In this exercise, we are simply just letting go of their energies, we are not judging them.

Work on this for as long as you feel you need to. If you have gone deep in the meditation and you are lying in bed you may even fall asleep, this is okay.

You may need to do this meditation every night for two weeks, two months or even longer......the point is to release any and all energies that you do not need. Release with love.

Often when we release someone's energy they actually feel it. They may not know what it is they are feeling, they just feel a lack of something (your energy). Sometimes they will even call you or send an e-mail to see how you are doing. This is fine, just don't get drawn back into the negative exchange of energy. Do not try to use this meditation in the hopes that someone will call you, it doesn't work that way. All that will do is keep their energy attached to you. If you try to use the meditation in that way then you are not truly letting go of the energy.

Remember, let go - with love.

Back Pain Medication

Although many of us who suffer from back problems do not often want to use back pain medication in order to treat it as they do not like the idea of taking such products especially when it comes to the chances of possibly suffering from side effects. However in some cases it may be necessary for us to do so to help reduce the amount of pain we are feeling as well as helping to increase our mobility levels.

For many who decide not to choose to treat the problem through the use of medication, you may find that you become extremely inactive and will then find it difficult to get active again once the problem that has been causing the pain has been reduced. Today there are various different kinds of medication a person can use for treating back problems. Everything from back pain medication that can be purchased over the counter to ones which need to be prescribed by the doctor.

Before you start using any kind of back pain medication whether it be an anti inflammatory one or a muscle relaxant or opiods or acetaminophen, you should discuss it with your doctor first.

The most commonly used forms of medication for treating back pain Tylenonl and Phenaphen which have analgesic properties which help to reduce the amount of pain and swelling to the area as well as helping to improve the healing process.

Other anti inflammatory medications that a person may consider using are Naproxen or even Aspirin which are effective for treating back pain problems as they can help to ease the inflammation that has occurred in the spinal nerves. As for those medications which are called opiods, these are only to be used in the most severe cases of back pain and can only be prescribed to a person by their doctor or health care provider. This is because these are made using a morphine derivative and can become extremely addictive if used for extended periods of time.

However if you are someone who prefers to use a back pain medication which does not need to be ingested then a cream may be more advisable. These types of medications come in a cream formula and are applied directly to the area where the pain is and are absorbed directly through the skin into the body. But which ever kind of medication you decide to use, it is advisable that you discuss the matter with your doctor first as there could be some underlying cause for the problem which may require another form of treatment in order to help deal with it.

Medical Bills and Debt - Use Settlement to Solve All Debt Problems Permanently

Declaring bankruptcy because of excessively high medical bills is the worst personal tragedy. In case of excess of credit card debt, the individual must share a portion of the blame. The individual must be held responsible for making irresponsible use of the credit card. However, can somebody be blamed for falling ill? Is it right to criticize somebody because he or she has cancer? The individual is forced to declare bankruptcy without any fault whatsoever.

Is there not any other option? Until recently, there was no choice but to request the medical service provider again and again for assistance. Today, you can walk up to your medical service provider and indicate that you are going to consider bankruptcy. What was earlier an irrelevant factor has now become a very important one. Millions of individuals have declared bankruptcy and many more are at the brink of financial disaster.

Medical service providers are acutely aware of this problem. They have been very happy to file cases and initiate legal proceedings at the drop of the hat. However, when the individual has mere subsistence level income, where is the question of freezing the account and obtaining repayments?

That is the reason why debt settlement has become very popular. All you have to do is walk up to your service provider and negotiate a settlement. What if you do not know how to proceed?

Settlement companies employ professionals specially trained to arbitrate and negotiate debt. They understand how the financial market works and what factors must be taken into consideration when negotiating.

There are numerous professional institutions that provide specialized training in this field. Further, there are many trade bodies that regulate the debt settlement industry. Hence, if your employ these service providers, you can be rest assured that your problems shall vanish. You only have to pay the fees owed and the amount payable to your lenders will come down by as much as the 70 % of the original amount.

Hence, do not despair if you are struggling under excessive burden of medical debt. There are options available that will protect you from bankruptcy.

The Hardest Task Ever

I became interested in creepy crawly things as a boy in Upstate New York.  I started to take them seriously in the early 1970s'.  As I explored the swamps and forests of the Southern US, I would write down everything I ran across with respect to native reptile life.  Things such as color, length, girth, how it crawled its response when handled which led to the depth of a bite.  The usual stuff that one would expect a geek to write in his pocket journal.  Well one journal led to two then three and so on, forty years later you can just imagine the mountain of paper I was left with to decipher and rewrite.  One thing that I found was that hand writing changes over time and what was easily read at the time of posting,  is now something that resembled a 1st graders homework, the only difference was I used a pen rather then a crayon.

Had I to do it over, I would have drug a typewriter into the woods with me.  I had planned to write the future Bible on native snakes of North America, I wanted the supreme book, one that would answer ever conceivable question that might be asked about any snake native to the US.  This is quite an undertaking and required meticulous study of each snake captured.  I do believe that I am responsible for many a snakes psychological maladjustment.  I wonder what was going through their minds as I counted each row of scales, placed a magnifying glass in front of their eyes and counted their teeth?  I bet they did not view life in the same after meeting me in the woods, I was that guy their mother told them about.  I went about my research differently then most others because I could not bring myself to kill a snake for scientific research reasons.  It would have been far easier to count the scales of a dead snake versus a wiggling, biting snake that is a given however I found them to be wondrous animals and you do not repay beauty with death, at least I could not.  I continued to seek knowledge my way and I found that some snakes have other interesting ways of defending their self other then simply biting.  Several of them will whip their tails in your face and eject the cloacal contents all over.  What are cloacal contents you ask?  The remains of undigested mice and rats, semi liquid waste products from the kidneys, secretions from intestinal glands, in other more common words, "Poop"!  If I had a dime for every face full of crap that I was forced to wear I would be a bit better off financially then I am now.

There are roughly 102 species and sub species of snakes known to be native to the United States at this time.  No being financially able to travel to each home range and look for each species in the wild, I had to do the next best thing and that was to locate someone who had one or more of them in captivity.  This was extremely slow and tedious work.  The hard part was to talk someone into allowing me to examine each animal in their possession.  Some folks were happy to help, and get a chance to pass on their knowledge, while others hung up on me when I asked to give their snake a physical exam.  A number of times I found that the snake they possessed was not even in the same family of snakes they believed it to be.  When I corrected them I was shown the back door and given directions on where to go .  Funny how fast some people change attitudes so quickly, one second they are pleasant and smiling and the next they are chasing you with a stick?  Oh that's a book in itself.

On one of my first fact finding missions I was traveling down a dirt road that I thought would never end.  I was on my way to gather information on the Heterodon family of snakes which this fellow said that he had two in captivity.  Now in the late 1970 I also loved to hunt and often had a rifle or shotgun in my truck in case my travels took me to an area with good prospects.  It was big game season in Georgia and I had my shotgun and as I drove down this dirt trail, a large tom turkey ran across the road.  I pulled over, got my gun and went into the woods following its trail.  About 100 yards in, there he was, I fired, he fell and I had a turkey.  I chucked it in the truck and drove on.  Finally I came to a Mobile home at the end of the road.  A man was in the yard and I introduced myself and he said "come on in, the snakes are in the house."  As we passed the truck I said "by the way, look what I got on the way down here".  I held the bird up and his expression changed , TOM!! you killed TOM!!  I had shot a turkey he had raised from an egg.  If he had had a gun, I would be dead.  He went nuts, my turkey, my turkey was all he said as he carried it into the back yard.  To make a long story short, that bird cost my $35.00, all I had on me and I did not get to see the snakes and was asked to leave and never return.  At least that is what the translation seemingly meant, but the message was very clear.

I was walking along the Saranac river in the Adirondacks of New Your on a warm sunny afternoon searching to Timber rattlesnakes.  So far I had no luck and it was beginning to get a little warm.  I decided to sit on a stump along the river bank and rest for a few minutes.  As I sat there a feeling of discomfort hit me like a rocket.  Of all the possible spots that I could have chosen to rest along that quaint little river, I had to sit directly on top of a bumble bee nest.  I dropped everything that I brought with me, I was stung three times on the face, twice on the left arm and a few on my back.  They were in hot pursuit and closing in as I ran.  My only hope was to jump off the bank and into the river.  I heaped from the bank and was soon about 9 feet above the water below, the shallow water below!  My feet hit the water and in less then an eighth of a second I came to a screeching halt, I was up to my knees in mud, bees still buzzed about my head and I fell forward doing everything in my power to get under the water in hopes they would leave.  Four more stings and it came to a painful end.  I stood up, a tear in my eye to see three lovely young girls on the opposite bank who had witnessed the whole embarrassing event.  They held back the laughter as I climbed back up the bank swollen and feeling a tad less then a super hero, that I can tell you with a straight face.  I never went back to retrieve my tablet, walking stick and hat, the bees could keep it all.

It goes with out saying, some of my adventures did not go exactly as planned.  Back in Georgia one Fall early afternoon I had made plans for a weekend snake hunt at a place called Brasswell Mountain, it was about 20 miles from anywhere.  My wife Janice and her sister Gayle were to drive me up to the top of the mountain and down a dirt road to a location I had once deer hunted a few years earlier.  It was nearing dark when we arrived at the drop off site and I was in a hurry to get my supplies up to my camp site.  I opened the trunk and said I'll see you in a few.  I carried all that I could up a steep hill and across a short field that overlooked the valley below.  In the distance I saw a set of red tail lights fading in the distance, I paid no special attention to it and continued to my site.  I dropped every thin and returned for the second load. It took about ten or so minutes to reach the car only to find there was no car to be found.  There I stood, my lovely wife and her sister had been talking and never heard me tell them that I would have to make three trips to get everything.  I was left with a tent and no tent poles, A 30-30 with no ammunition, drinks with no opener (1973), no food, cigarettes with no matches or lighter and no bed role.  If I could have gotten my hands around their necks, I would be writing this from prison right now.  I spent two days in hell. I was frozen stiff during the night and spent the day dreaming of how I was going to get even.  Two days I spent on top of that mountain.  Sunday late afternoon rolled around and Janice finally showed up.  Did ya have a good time she asked? I never answered, I grabbed the keys and drug her to the rear of the car, opened the trunk exposing the 1/2 filled trunk and pointed to it.  She said why didn't you take that with you, I bet you could have used some of it?  There was such innocence in her voice I could not bring myself to say what I had practiced all weekend, and just said Ya, I wish I had thought.  I never told her what happened or how mad I was at her, I still look back on that weekend and it is funny now but when ever I intend on coming back to the car and Janice is with me, I keep the keys in MY pocket until I am sure everything is as it should be.  Fool me twice, well you know.

I am now sixty years old and still beat the bushes looking for snakes and still making notes on a small pad but I am close to the end of my life long ambition of writing the perfect Herpetology book.  125.000 words and about 100 pictures.  It has been an adventure all the way but I had some real fun collecting the material and meeting new friends.  My next adventure will be finding a publisher to spread the word about snakes I have met.

Airbrush Tanning: Top Tips for Successful Sunless Tanning Today

Airbrush Tanning: Top Tips for Success

If you are looking for a golden, sun-kissed glow without the harmful rays of the sun, an airbrush tan is a great option. It is safe, easy and provides a smooth, even result. As with anything, however, there are some things to know before you decide to have an airbrush tan. These tips are designed to ensure you end up with a tan that looks great and lasts as long as possible.

Go to a reputable source

Whether you decide to go to a tanning salon that specializes in airbrush tans or whether you decide to purchase the products to do your airbrushing at home, it is important to go to a reliable source. As for recommendations from those whom you trust and never trust a salon that gives you a bad feeling. Remember, more expensive doesn't always mean more reputable; and cheaper doesn't always mean lesser quality. Base your decision on the reputation of the salon, not solely on the prices they charge.

Before you tan

It's important to prepare the skin for tanning. To do that, be sure to take a shower and use an exfoliating scrub to prepare the skin. This will help to remove any residue of lotion, perfume or deodorant from the skin and also, more important, it will remove any dead skin cells. Dead skin skills sitting on top of the skin can prevent the airbrush tan solution from penetrating the skin evenly and giving a smooth, even tan.

Also, before you head into the airbrush tanning session, be sure to remove all of your clothes and jewellery so as to avoid unsightly tan lines.

During tanning

During your airbrush tanning treatment, be sure to cover any areas of your body that are not meant to be tanned. The best ways to cover any areas that you do not want to receive the tan are by wearing underwear or other suitable clothing over those areas or by using towels to cover those areas. It is important to cover any areas that are tattooed because a tattoo's color will be affected by the tanning process. If you forget, however, to cover your tattoos, it's OK. The darkening is only temporary.

The tanning solution, which contains DHA, is safe to use on almost any skin area, including the scalp and other sensitive areas. It can be used to effectively cover blemishes, scars and freckles.

After tanning

Because airbrush tanning solution can take a few hours to sink completely into the skin, wear only loose-fitting clothing after your treatment. Note that the solution can stain certain fabrics, such as silk and nylon, so avoid wearing these fabrics on the day of your treatment.

By following these tips, you will maximize your chances of achieving a smooth, even airbrush tan. You don't need to lie out in the sun for hours on end to get a beautiful tan, all the while risking your health. Now, you can get a beautiful tan and take care of your skin at the same time.

Stay in Shape - Cycling Workouts For the Winter Months

It's that time of year. The time when you decide it's fine to ride in 12 degree weather. The time when your food and water freezes, your hands and feet go numb, and your bike gets covered in water and road salt...

It's the time of year when you decide that you were a freakin idiot for going outside!

That "time of year" for me was yesterday. My first ride outside in sub 25 degree weather. It's the same every year. Through spring, summer, and fall you tend to forget just how bad it is... and you think you're tough enough to handle it. Well... you're not!

Just one ride brings back the painful experiences of just one year ago. The warming of frostbitten hands and feet - what a way to end a ride! It's enough to make me want to stay out in the cold!

I even bought a trainer this year. And I wore it out after a month. So, inevitably, I rode outside in frigid temperatures. Now I'm getting ready to buy some rollers. Then I'll stay inside like a sane person!

Perhaps I'll even pick up some workout videos. I have a CTS mountain biking video, the Spinervals might be ok, but I'm more interested in the Cyclo-core workouts. [See resource box below.] There's a little bit of everything - riding, light lifting, etc. - and best of all: just 30-60 minutes each!

You get to stay inside, avoid trainer boredom, and you don't even have to go to the gym! Definitely too good to pass up!

Even if you don't want to buy anything, check out the site for a free special report: "Five Secrets to Double Your Off-Season Fitness"

Moral of the story: This is the off-season. Don't ride outside if it's below 25 degrees. And feel free to use this as an excuse to spend the winter in California!

Sailboat Sails and Sail Boat Sales Hurting Sailing and Sailboat Selling

The economic conditions are simply killing many small businesses in so many industries. One industry that is hitting some stormy seas is the marine sector. Yacht sales are down by over 60% and they are practically giving them away.

Worse, many of the buyers cannot get financing to buy these boats. Many of the buyers previously used second mortgages to finance their luxury sailboats, but we all know that is a huge problem right now in the home loan sector.   The other day down at the local Marina here I noted a beautiful sail boat that was selling for $405,000 only 2-years ago, the owner changed his mind, but now has to sale. Today's prices $198,000 and that is just one I noted because it is such a pristine vessel.   After shooting the breeze with the yacht brokerage sales guy he indicated the owner was getting desperate and was ready to take offers. Wow, are things really that dire? Yes, it appears so. However, if you can capitalize on something like this then you ought to be looking for a sail boat in your own area.   Is this your year to realize your nautical dreams, visions of sailing off into the sunset and enjoying all that our planet has to offer? Why not go for it now, as you may never get another opportunity like this in your life time. Indeed, if a power yacht suits your fancy, well, there are plenty of deals on those too.   Indeed, I noted about 10 vessels the other day, all easily hovering at half their value. Please consider all this.

8 Reasons to Reconsider a Timeshare

Hello, friends! I've compiled a list of 8 reasons to be cautious when thinking about purchasing a timeshare. None of these pitfalls are new, but they seem to be just as true today as they have ever been. Unfortunately, we continue to hear these same complaints from our customers on a daily basis, but hopefully, a few of you will read this blog, and take a moment to evaluate your options.

Timeshares Are NOT an Investment

As expressed time and time again, timeshares are a liability, and their financial value depreciates over any given period of time. This means that the instant you purchase a timeshare, the value plummets, along with the resale value.

Maintenance Fees

Fees that were promised to remain low during the initial sales pitch can begin to spiral out of control rather quickly. Along with general maintenance fees that will surely rise, there are other fees to keep in mind, such as special assessments, taxes, membership fees, and exchange-transaction fees. The owner must pay these fees whether they use their timeshare or not.

Travel Expenses

Another item that is often overlooked by overzealous timeshare purchasers is the question of travel. Sure, it might seem like an affordable vacation locale if one can account for the annual taxes and fees, but people often forget how expensive it is to travel to certain destinations. As anyone with a timeshare can tell you, airfare is not cheap and neither is fuel.

The Timeshare Industry is Complicated

The timeshare industry is extremely complicated, and entering into a contract should not be taken lightly. Resort developments are counting on their prey to not do their homework, thus making them easier to sell. If one isn't well versed in the language of timeshares (e.g. fixed-week, point based systems, leased timeshares), it becomes even easier to fall victim to manipulation and predatory sales tactics.

You'll Likely Never Break Even

Timeshares seem cheap at the initial time of purchase, but when compared with the cost of practical hotels over the lifetime of the contract, it's likely that you'll never reach a break-even point.

Little Vacation Flexibility

Trading your time for a unit in a new vacation location is not as easy as a timeshare salesperson would have you believe. It could nearly a year's worth of advanced planning, and trading costs can add up quickly. Further, there's no guarantee that you'll be able to get your desired location during your desired time.

Timeshare Prices Are Negotiable

Even more than regular real estate or the local farmer's market, the sticker price on a timeshare is highly negotiable. The salesperson doesn't expect you to pay the initial price tag on the timeshare, and they are willing to come down on it. However, since timeshare salespersons expect to negotiate, there is a high mark up on the original price of the property.

Timeshares Are Nearly Impossible to Get Rid Of

A timeshare is a liability, not an asset. Therefore, the value will only depreciate over time, which makes the resale market virtually non-existent. There are many listing agencies and exchange companies who will make empty promises about the value of your property and the abundance of buyers lining up to purchase it, only to cash a large check without providing adequate service. The bottom line is that it is nearly impossible to sell a timeshare. The market has decreased significantly and shows no signs of rebounding.

This list is by no means exhaustive, but it should be a starting point for anyone interested in taking an honest look at what timeshare ownership really involves. Timeshare ownership can be a wonderful experience for many families, but it is important to do all the necessary research before signing on the dotted line. If you or someone you know is locked into a timeshare contract and looking for an exit solution, please contact Newton Group Transfers at (877) 354-4321.

Sharks and Rays Of Australia - A Review

So if you're anything like me and you love sharks, you always need a good reference book about them. It's easy to identify the big ones or the common ones or the ones that appear on TV, but what about that shark-like shape you caught out of the corner of your eye or that strange shark you saw at a new dive site?

Australia is home to the greatest diversity of sharks and rays on the planet. Stingarees, fiddler rays, numb rays, ghost sharks, carpet sharks and stingrays are just some of the weird and wonderful members of the cartiliginous fish family found here and they live in habitats ranging from remote estuaries all the way through to the deep ocean depths.

Sharks and Rays of Australia is one of those 'must have' books if you are a scuba diver, scientist, fisherman, marine conservationist or you have more than a passing interest in Chondrichthyes - sorry couldn't help throwing in the latin - sharks and rays.

The first edition of Sharks and Rays of Australia was published in 1994 and was so popular it sold out in a few years...not bad for a reference book I reckon. This edition was published in 2009 and it contains updates on more than 100 species and includes 26 that have been discovered since the first edition. The book now contains 322 species found in Australian waters but many of them have much wider distributions so is useful over a much wider area than just Australia.

One of my gripes about fish ID books is finding the fish you're after; if you don't know the name of the animal, you have to leaf through pages and pages of photographs in the hope of finding what you're looking for. While I can't really think of an alternative, this book at least gives you a few ways to help narrow down your options. There's an introduction and illustrated glossary which can help provide some context if you don't have detailed knowledge of sharks. There's a key to identifying families of sharks and rays so if you're looking for a particular fish, this section can help you find the right part to look in. There's also some incredibly detailed colour drawings of each species at the back and there's two indexes - one of common names and one of scientific names.

Each individual animal section outlines distinctive features, colour, size and distribution and a 'remark' heading under which you'll find behaviours, breeding habits and any conservation issues. There's no colour photographs only the coloured line drawings but I don't think you miss out on anything by not having them.

It's described as a field guide but at almost 650 pages its pretty big to be toting around. Plus it's one of those hardcover coffee table books and if you're anything like me you won't want to get it dirty or creased! Mine lives on my bookshelf but comes out after most dives and sometimes I'll just have a flick through to see what animal I want to go and dive with next.

The Best Wilson Squash Racquet

Whether you've played squash for five, ten, fifteen, or twenty years, chances are you've seen lots of different squash racquets come and go. You've probably played with just about as many or more than I have. The latest material composites change constantly, as do the shapes, and strings used. We all have our own opinions on what makes the best squash racquet.

I try not to get too hung up on any particular manufacturer, as I think all the major brands have something to offer. I know some players who swear by Dunlop, and love their Black Knights, or can't bear to part with their older model Princes. And, that's fine for the average club player.

I do think, it's important to understand your own game and playing ability when you consider the characteristics of any racquet. If you've played squash for a long time, or plan on playing it for a long time, you've either dealt with injuries, or will be dealing with injuries in the future. Bear in mind, that a lighter racquet and less racquet vibration can save your elbow / shoulder / wrist from injury over time.

I don't usually go for the very high end racquets, as they don't seem to hold up to the abuse of a player at my dubious skill level inflicts. I do however like to have a couple of identical racquets in my bag. When one breaks, or needs new strings, I don't have to adjust to the feel of a different racquet. My game has enough variables to control already.

Although, I do seem to carry more than two racquets in my bag at any given time. When some less prepared player breaks one, and needs to borrow a racquet, I like to have an old junker I don't care about for lending purposes. I've got a really old Slazenger that serves this role well.

I know what player that carries around one of those really old ones that have a long handle, and a tiny circular head. From way back in the day. I only remember that, because he pulled it out of his bag once while playing me, and actually beat me with it. Not a good memory.

There comes a point with some racquets, where it may or may not be worth getting them restrung. Every time you do, the frame weakens just a little bit more. And, I know there's nothing worse than spending $35 or $40 to have a racquet restrung, and then break a week later.

So, at the moment, I carry a couple of Wilson N145s, an older Black Knight viper with broken strings, and a really old Slazenger racquet in my bag. The Wilsons, are the only ones that get to play much, and they currently have Ashaway SuperNick strings on them. They work just fine by me.

Real Estate Laws in Louisiana - What You Should Know As a Property Owner

State legal systems in the United States are based on one of two legal systems. Forty-nine states base their laws on the common law system, first used in England.

However one state, Louisiana, uses the French Napoleonic Code as the basis for their legal system. While common law-based legal systems rely on the rulings of judges to set precedents that are used to make later decisions, the Louisiana system does not.

The Napoleonic Code was intended to simplify the laws in a time when many people were illiterate or did not have access to printed information. Ironically, the effort to create a simpler and easier to understand legal system has resulted in one of the more complex and least understood set of state laws here in Louisiana.

There are many other distinctions between the two systems, but it is not as important to know every single distinction as it is to understand that there are significant differences between the state laws in Louisiana and those of most other states.

Real Estate Law Basics

Real estate laws are the laws that address the land and anything built upon that land including ownership, usage, and transfer of ownership of that land. As discussed above, Louisiana's unique legal heritage has affected the current laws in many ways. One such way is the term used to refer to real estate in this state. While the rest of the United States uses "real estate" in legal documents, in Louisiana real estate is referred to as "immoveable property."

Inheritance and "Forced Heirs"

Another area which requires the special attention is that of inheritance within Louisiana. The laws regarding inheritance derived from the Napoleonic Code were intended to ensure that assets remained in their family of origin, so while the other 49 states allow property to be transferred as the owner prefers after their death, this is not always the case in Louisiana.

The laws regarding inheritance of real estate can dictate that close relatives including parents or children inherit property before anyone else.

Community Property or Separate Property?

The real estate laws in Louisiana separate property ownership into two categories:

Community property Separate property

While the difference between two distinctions may seem apparent initially, upon closer inspection, the line becomes less clear. For example, once a couple is married, all properties do not automatically become community properties, and in the case of divorce, one spouse may not have any claim to or rights in regard to certain properties. Some of the factors that are considered in this situation are when the property was purchased and which party's funds were used, which can be a difficult fact to ascertain.
